Greetings from Montana! Another state can only mean one thing… A new Family Ski Day! Join us on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Big Sky Resort in Montana — THE self-proclaimed gateway to adventure and proud home of the “biggest skiing in America.”
“Welcome to Big Sky Resort, a world-class mountain where the skiing, just like the snow, is big.”
We’ve already skied and hosted Family Ski Days at 9 other resorts, so what makes Big Sky Resort so different? Here are three of the top reasons that we’re excited to spend the day skiing at Big Sky Resort:
#1 Some impressive mountain stats
Have you ever wondered by Big Sky is considered “the biggest skiing in America?” Big Sky, Montana isn’t just big… It’s massive! At a glance, the mountain stats for Big Sky Resort are enough to make any snowsport enthusiast weak in the knees.
- Nestled in the Northern Rockies of SW Montana right between Bozeman, Montana and Yellowstone National Park means awesome snow and amazing wildlife.
- 4 mountains and 36 chairlifts with massive terrain variety.
- They receive a minimum average of 400 inches of powder per year.
- Has over 5,800+ skiable acres with an average of two acres per skier.
- Offers 4,350 vertical feet of skiing (that’s the most in the state of Montana!)
- Minimal lift lines which mean more slope time
#2 The world’s first 8-person chairlift
If the mountain stats aren’t enough to impress you, Big Sky Resort is home to “the most technologically-advanced chairlift network in North America”… The Ramcharger 8. This new, 8-seat chairlift is ergonomically-shaped, boasts a weather proof bubble, and even comes equipped with heated seats.
“Ramcharger’s debut in December 2018 means less time on chairlifts, and more time skiing and riding Big Sky’s 5,800+ acres of terrain.”
Located at the base of Andesite Mountain, Big Sky Resort reports that this chairlift lifts 3,200 skiers per hour up the hill. We can only hope that this means the lines are short and skiing isn’t crowded!
#3 Lone Peak Tram
Skiers and snowboards can ride Lone Peak Tram up to the top of Lone Mountain to experience 360-degree views of epic peaks, three states, and two National Parks. Lone Peak Tram allows anyone to experience some of the most technical and extreme skiing in the United States. We’ll be sure to put this experience on our to-do list for our Big Sky Resort Family Ski Day!
